🍗 Authentic South Indian Chicken Biryani – A delicious Feast for Every Occasion

📝 What Is South Indian Chicken Biryani?

There is a layered rice dish made with marinated chicken, spices and basmati rice. It is different for its strong tastes, use of fresh herbs and a spicy kick.

🛍 ingredients you will need For Marinating the Chicken:

  • 500 grams of chicken (washed and cut in moderate pieces)
  • 1 cup thick yogurt (curd)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • ½ lemon juice
  • To cook rice:
  • 2 cup long grain basmati rice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 Green Cardamom Pods
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • salt to taste
For Biryani base:
  • 2 medium onions (chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 green chillies (slit)
  • 4 cups of fresh mint leaves
  • 4 cup coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clear butter)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon Biryani Masala (Store-Kharida or Homemade)

👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

🔹 Step 1: Marinate Chicken Yogurt, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and salt. Mix well and marinate it for at least 1 hour (overnight for best results). 🔹 Step 2: Present the rice Rinse the basmati rice until the water is cleaned. Soak it for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, bring water into a boil with bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and salt. Add rice and cook up to 70%. Drain and set one side. 🔹 Step 3: Cook Masala Heat oil and ghee in a thick-floor vessel. Add chopped onion and step until golden brown. Stir tomatoes, green chillies, mint and coriander leaves. Cook until tomatoes are soft. 🔹 Step 4: Add chicken Add marinated chicken to the masala and cook until the chicken and oil separates from the gravy. 🔹 Step 5: Laying Biryani Spread rice cooked over the chicken. Sprinkle the remaining mint, coriander and biryani masala at the top. 🔹 Step 6: Dum Cooking Cover the pot with a lid (seal edges with flour for a traditional touch) and cook on low heat for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
