- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
👨🍳 How to Make Crispy Potato Fry – Step-by-Step
-
Boil and Prep the Potatoes
Boil the potatoes until fork-tender but not mushy. Peel and cut them into medium-sized cubes. -
Tempering the Spices
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds. -
Add Flavor
Toss in the green chilies (or red chili powder) followed by turmeric. Stir to combine. -
Add the Potatoes
Drop in the cubed potatoes. Add salt and coriander powder. Mix gently to coat the potatoes evenly in the spices. -
Fry Until Golden & Crisp
Let the potatoes fry on medium heat for 7–10 minutes. Stir occasionally but allow them to sit between flips for that golden crust. -
Garnish & Serve
Turn off the flame. Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, chapati, or enjoy it as a snack!
💡 Tips & Variations
-
Extra Crispy? Let the potatoes sit in the pan without stirring for a few minutes at a time.
-
Spicier Version: Add a pinch of garam masala or chaat masala just before turning off the heat.
-
South Indian Style: Add a few curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida (hing) during tempering.
